Recycling construction waste
We are recycling to the greatest extent possible. Even though this is a small residential project with limited space, we designate dumpsters for just concrete or just wood, thanks to Waste Management’s commitment to augment recycling. That means that other waste piles up in a separate spot to be put in the next dumpster. Every piece of metal, even every electrical wire and box, is separated and placed in a designated space, and is periodically taken to metal recycling drop-off.
The kitchen cabinets are being rebuilt in another home. The cedar closet lining and all the wood trim has been saved for reuse and the roof rafters will be reused in another building. A 1.6 GPF toilet, electrical outlets and other small reusable items were donated to Habitat for Humanity. The microwave and fridge are being reused thanks to Freecycle.
